Invest in our Children!
Your donation will be invested through Volunteers of America’s Partnerships in Child Care programs. We support over 500 child care centers, preschools and family child care providers throughout the Greater Baton Rouge, Acadiana, Southwest Louisiana and Central Louisiana areas.
Our goal is to enhance the quality of early childhood education and prepare children with the skills they need to successfully enter kindergarten by:
Providing teacher education and resources
Nurturing children’s physical, social and cognitive development
Referring parents to quality care
Here is how donations will be used…
Developmentally appropriate learning materials including fine motor materials, art materials, music and movement activities, blocks, sand/water play tables, nature/science kits, math/number materials.
Expanded technical assistance to train and mentor teachers on how to effectively use learning materials with the children.
Specialized teacher training, for example, “Encouraging Literacy with Preschoolers” including follow-up mentoring and support to assist in implementation.
Professional development conferences for all child care providers.
Materials for the resource center housed at the Partnerships in Child Care office. Used by teachers to create items to enrich and enhance the classroom environment.
Grand Prize winners receive classroom or outdoor playground makeover up to a $10,000 value. Runners-up receive mini-makeovers up to a $1,500 value.
10-month professional development program with coursework, coaching and applied practice for teachers to earn their Louisiana Early Childhood Ancillary Certificate.
Positive Parenting Program (Triple P):
Designed to prevent and treat behavioral and emotional problems in children and teenagers.
